You probably know that I’m a big fan of Jott. It makes your already indispensable cell phone even more useful. It’s a great service that turns voice messages into text messages. You can send text messages to your contacts from your cell phone. However, my favorite usage is to send reminder messages to myself.

The messages are also sent to your email account. I’ve found this very handy for keeping myself on track. Besides sending myself grocery lists, I also send myself snippets of plot ideas or scenes I need to write or fix. My muse seems to be most active while I’m driving.

Some of the ways I use Jott

    • Remind my self of appointments
    • Keep track of things I need to buy
    • Send a message to friends that I’m running late
    • Capture sparks of inspiration from my muse

Today I found out that Jott will now send updates to Twitter, Facebook, Wordpress, Typepad, and other social networking sites. I’m not ready to Jott my blog posts, but I think it’s great to be able to send Tweets and Facebook updates on the go.

I might be able to get back on track with social networking while waiting in doctors’ offices or while doing other things that have to be done for my in-laws.

How are you using Jott or a similar service to make your life a little easier?

    Write on,

    Lynn Jordan
