I think I touched a chord with my post on perfection and procrastination. I’ve gotten lots of comments about it both online and off. Chris Knight of EzineArticles just put a post up on his blog about Perfection Paralysis.
If you are writing articles to promote yourself (and you really should be), there is no better place to post them than EzineArticles. EZA gets more visitors than any other article site on the Internet.
Writing articles is a great way to get read by new people and get them to click back to your website. EZA allows you to put a link in your bio (they call it a resource box). Put the URL of your blog or website and invite your readers to learn more about you.
Also, webmaster for other sites can copy your article to their own site as long as they keep your resource box with the article. This can increase your exposure.
Using articles for promotion is a numbers game. You want a lot of articles out there working for you. Lots of good articles will get you more notice than a few almost perfect articles.
Here are some tips when writing articles
- Make your article 400–600 words
- Write as if you were speaking to a friend
- Don’t use the resource box to post your resume
- Invite the reader back to your we site
Jeanette Cates has said that done trumps perfect. Take those words to heart.
Whatever you are writing, don’t get stuck with perfection paralysis. Do your best, but don’t obsess over your words. Remember when using articles for promotion, quantity is more important than quality. Articles should be good enough to represent you, but they don’t need to be perfect.
How do you overcome perfection paralysis? Leave a comment and share.
Write on,
Lynn

Hi Lynn,
I used to think it was so ridiculous for people to expect perfection until I came online and year and a half ago and realized that was what I was doing. Waiting for everything to be perfect before I went ahead and it was not until I was on a Teleseminar a year ago and heard a well-respected teacher say something to the effect of do it now, revise later that it hit me that was the opposite of what I was doing.
I now focus on getting it done as accurately as I can, get it out there and revise later, if necessary.
I like the quote from Jeanette “done trumps perfect.” I’ll stick that On my monitor
Thank you,
Yvonne

Excellent article Lynn. Straight, clear and to the point. Well done.
I’m starting to talk about perfection paralysis to my clients and I was wondering if anyone else out there was calling it this too. It led me to you and this article is exactly what I need to be reading right now.
So thank you!
Happy 2012.
Tracy
